Company profile
Timber Finance – Carbon Removals for Timber Construction
Timber Finance is the leading provider of internationally recognized Carbon Removal Credits for timber construction projects. Our offering: to make the climate performance of timber buildings measurable, certifiable, and tradable – and to turn it into financial value.
As of 2025, modern timber construction is recognized as a form of carbon removal by international standards such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the EU Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming (CRCF) initiative, and the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). This opens up new opportunities to certify carbon storage in buildings. Timber Finance is developing the world’s first methodology for Mass Timber Carbon Removals and guides projects through the entire certification process. The resulting Carbon Removal Credits can be sold on the voluntary carbon market (offsetting) or retained by companies for their own climate accounting (insetting).
Our services are aimed at real estate developers, architecture firms, and institutional builders who want to integrate tradable and reportable Carbon Removal Credits into their core business – construction – for use in climate strategies and real estate valuation. More than 50 projects in Switzerland and Europe are already in the certification pipeline – ranging from residential developments to public buildings.
Our solution unlocks additional value for buildings, supports ESG and climate goals, incentivizes the use of timber as a climate-friendly material, and promotes sustainable forest management.
