The BImA is the centralised real estate organisation of the German government.

Company profile

May we introduce ourselves: the BImA, the centralised real estate organisation of the German federal government

The Institute for Federal Real Estate (BImA) is the centralised real estate organisation of the German federal government. It belongs to the business division of the Federal Ministry of Finance and operates in accordance with the modern standards of the real estate industry. The registered office of the headquarters is in Bonn. The main responsibilities are the standardised real estate management of the German federal government, real estate administration and sales, as well as looking after the forests and nature conservation of the open land. The BImA also has a large supply of affordable housing, which it primarily makes available within the scope of housing assistance for federal employees. The Institute is supporting the housing offensive of the German federal government by now also building itself.

The BImA covers the requirement for land and space of the federal ministries with spaces and buildings in its own portfolio, through new construction, purchase or rental. It then provides the users with the properties on the basis of rental contracts. With around 4,800 properties used by government departments and ministries, the BImA manages virtually all of these properties for the German federal government, including, for example, administration buildings of the ministries and senior government departments, as well as the German Armed Forces properties in Germany.
