C4C: Turning CO₂ into stronger, cheaper, low-emissions concrete worldwide.

Concrete4Change (C4C) is a UN award-winning UK deep-tech start-up on a mission to decarbonise the world’s most used man-made material: concrete. Cement, the key binder in concrete, is responsible for around 8% of global CO₂ emissions. C4C has developed a patented carrier material that mineralises captured CO₂ directly into fresh concrete, transforming it into a permanent carbon sink while enhancing performance. Unlike alternative approaches, C4C’s solution is a simple drop-in additive that integrates seamlessly into existing production without costly process changes.

The technology has been validated at lab scale and is now scaling through mini-plant and industrial trials with leading global partners including Cemex, Holcim, SCG, and Goldbeck. Our innovation delivers a triple benefit:

1. Permanent carbon sequestration at gigatonne scale,
2. Improved material properties such as compressive strength and durability,
3. Significant cost savings by enabling the use of industrial waste streams and reducing reliance on clinker.

 
C4C has raised competitive grant funding and early investment, and is now bridging to Series A while building its first demo plants. Our vision is to enable the construction industry to decarbonise at scale by licensing our technology worldwide, embedding CO₂ into every cubic metre of concrete produced. Even a small share of the global market would permanently remove hundreds of millions of tonnes of CO₂ annually, creating a climate-positive, economically viable pathway for one of the hardest-to-abate sectors.
